graphic tables

In keeping with the vision of using repurposed materials to make fine art, this furniture has been acquired as either found objects, or purchased from charity resale shops. After being identified for use, the table is first reworked to restore its structural integrity. Then original photo/graphic images by Russell Phillips are applied to the surface, creating a unique piece that re-envisions the item through the combination of old furniture with new image by way of state of the art technology.

This juxtaposition of old and new, and of unexpected vehicle for the photographic work, creates a kind of energy, even wit, in each furniture piece.

Whether it’s the bold image of a Calder sculpture stretching across a mid-twentieth century Formica and chrome kitchen table, or a sprinkling of mementoes dropped on a traditional coffee table, each piece brings an exciting spark to its environment.

This original knockdown furniture is constructed from Medex, a sustainable, environmentally friendly, engineered wood.  Designed with interchangeable tops and legs to accommodate a variety of sizes and styles, these pieces break down for ease of shipping. A variety of images have been created for each table style, and once you choose the style and surface design you desire each table is custom made and shipped to you.

Through this line of knockdown furniture we respond to the call for a sustainable environment. While finding creative ways to use appropriate design and materials and without compromising the integrity of the work, we seek to promote sustainability.

All tabletops, both re-purposed and knockdown, have a coat of epoxy resin to protect the image, followed by a water-based polyurethane finish, which is impervious to common household cleaners, water, alcohol and other beverages.
